September Service Concepts: Open Houses Underway

C-TRAN is asking for the public’s help in developing a major service change that could affect numerous bus routes later this year, aiming to improve safety, efficiency and quality of service using a system-wide approach.

C-TRAN has created a series of concepts to start the conversation. We’ve identified 11 routes for possible changes and drawn up four possible new routes. We’re also considering dropping two others. Taken as a whole, the concepts would mean most of C-TRAN’s current routing is retained—just served differently. The goal is to match agency resources with existing demand while reaching new areas. Among the existing routes impacted are Routes 2, 3, 4, 7, 19, 25, 37, 38, 39, 44, 72, 78 and 80. C-TRAN is also preparing for the opening of The Vine, a bus rapid transit system now under construction, which is scheduled for completion in late 2016.

C-TRAN hosted open houses in February, with several more planned for March.

Any approved changes would take effect in September. Details regarding the concepts can be found on our website at www.c-tran.com, or by picking up a Service Concepts brochure on your bus. Comments can be emailed directly to C-TRAN at [email protected].

The Vine Construction Stop Closures

Construction on The Vine continues to affect numerous stops and bus routes in downtown Vancouver, and along McLoughlin Boulevard, Fort Vancouver Way and the Fourth Plain corridor. Several stops are currently closed, or will be closed during construction. Many temporary stops are already in place. Impacts will continue for the duration of construction. For a complete list of impacted stops, please visit www.c-tran.com and click “Rider Alerts” from the homepage.

The Vine is C-TRAN’s new bus rapid transit project, which is scheduled for completion later this year. When it opens, it will serve the Fourth Plain corridor between Van Mall and downtown Vancouver. For more information about the project, including progress reports and open houses, please visit www.thevine.c-tran.com.
