Proposed September Service Changes

Two routes are proposed to have adjustments made to their schedules this September:

Route 71

  • Weekdays and Saturdays: adjust frequency from every 20 minutes to every 25 minutes, to provide a more consistent schedule that allows for better connections.
  • Sundays: no adjustments are being considered at this time.

Route 157

Currently, Route 157 is experiencing delayed arrival times in Lloyd District, due to increased traffic congestion. Two options are being considered for morning trips only:

  • Option 1: Adjust arrival times in the Lloyd District to better reflect current travel times. This option allows the currently scheduled departures out of 99th Street Transit Center to remain as-is.
  • Option 2: Adjust the departure times out of the 99th Street Transit Center so the bus arrives in Lloyd District as is currently printed in the schedule.

C-TRAN conducted online surveys, during the month of April, to help determine the most effective change for riders of both routes. Updates will be provided to our riders, as soon as staff has reviewed the survey results.

New Fareboxes Coming in June

First Phase of eFare Implementation

C-TRAN will begin installing new fareboxes on its fleet starting this June. During the initial installation phase, passengers will see both the current and new fareboxes used throughout the system, until the installation is completed in September.

New fareboxes provide conveniences, such as easy to read electronic screens, and electronically printed transfers for qualifying fares. This is the first phase towards the implementation of electronic fares, which will occur in partnership with TriMet and the Portland Streetcar, by 2017. Electronic fares allow riders to purchase reloadable transit cards, or use contactless enabled personal debit/credit cards to pay their fares. New smart phone apps will also be available as an additional option to pay for fares.

NEW Honored Citizen/Youth Day Passes

Starting in June, passengers who qualify for Honored Citizen and Youth fares will have a new way to ride. NEW All Zone Day passes for Honored Citizen and Youth riders will be available for purchase on any C-TRAN bus, for just $2.00!

Visit our website at www.c-tran.com for information on how to qualify for Honored Citizen or Youth fare pricing.
