Give Safety a Green Light! Winter Safety Campaign Returns

As Daylight Savings ends, the darker days of winter begin. The "Give Safety a Green Light" campaign returns again this month, so be on the lookout for C-TRAN volunteers as they distribute green flashing safety lights and important safety information at Broadway and Evergreen, 99th Street Transit Center, Van Mall Transit Center, and the Fisher's Landing Transit Center. Don't worry if you miss them, because safety lights will be available at all Customer Service offices, starting on Halloween. Additional information will be posted at all transit center locations, and on our Website.

New Fareboxes Coming Next Year
First Phase of eFare Implementation

C-TRAN will begin installing new fareboxes on its fleet sometime in early 2015. The new fareboxes will provide conveniences, such as easy to read electronic screens, and electronically printed transfers for qualifying fares.

The new fareboxes are the first phase towards the implementation of electronic fares, which will occur in partnership with TriMet and the Portland Streetcar, by 2017. Electronic fares allow riders to purchase reloadable transit cards, or use contactless enabled personal debit/credit cards to pay their fares. New smart phone apps will also be available as an additional option to pay for fares.

Ticket Exchanges Honored through October 31, 2014

The new fareboxes are unable to accept anything other than cash, so passengers with unused books of single ride tickets must exchange them for a punch card, of equal value, or risk losing their fare. Additionally, anyone who has unused ride coupons must use them before December 31, as there are no exchanges available for ride coupons.

Watch for more exciting updates soon!

Washington Relay Replaces TTY

C-TRAN has abandoned the use of its old TTY number in favor of the Washington Relay service, which provides more modern convenience for our hearing impaired passengers. The new numbers are:

  • 711 (for cell phones only)

These new numbers are also provided on C-TRAN's Website and on all updated schedules and maps. For more information, please contact the C-TRAN Customer Service Office at 360-695-0123
