RECIPE HIGHLIGHTS | An updated twist on a C-TRAN classic

Even before The Vine on Mill Plain launched in 2023, C-TRAN had already begun laying the groundwork for two future Vine corridors: Highway 99, and East Fourth Plain/162nd Avenue. Both projects continued to advance through the planning stages in 2023. For The Vine on Highway 99, the C-TRAN Board of Directors approved a Locally Preferred Alternative in March following extensive input from the community. For The Vine on Fourth Plain Extension, the project kicked off in earnest with early outreach during the summer and the first open house meetings in September.

The Vine on Highway 99 will serve a crucial north-south corridor from the Vancouver Waterfront to the WSU Vancouver campus. The 9-mile alignment includes 33 new stations along the route in downtown Vancouver, Uptown, Hazel Dell and Salmon Creek. The project also includes an expansion of the existing Salmon Creek Park & Ride.

The Vine on Fourth Plain Extension will extend the original Vine corridor—serving Fourth Plain Boulevard—to continue east on Fourth Plain from the Vancouver Mall, as well as the 162nd/164th Avenue corridor in east Vancouver.

Both projects are scheduled to begin construction within the next couple of years. With The Vine, we’re building a growing network of bus rapid transit (BRT) service that provides more efficient, reliable service while improving connections and opportunities for the entire community.
