Jake Thompson is a self-taught photographer from Vancouver, Washington. He started photography at 15 years old, and has pursued it as a career ever since. In Jake’s words: “Photography has opened my eyes to a whole new appreciation of the world, and it has also been a great tool for self-discovery as well. I got into photography because I wanted to film videos of my friends and I skateboarding, and the second I bought my first camera, I was hooked from that day on.”
Jake’s work has been published internationally and has won numerous awards. For You Are Here, Jake conducted interviews and created the photographs of all of the people featured on this site. His other interests include filmmaking, part of Jake’s life-long dedication to telling stories.
