Vancouver, WA: Six local nonprofit organizations will receive 11 C-TRAN paratransit vehicles as part of a new grant program that will help meet the transportation needs of social service providers in Clark County. To celebrate the partnership, C-TRAN will host a special ceremony to recognize the recipients and officially hand over the keys. As part of the program, C-TRAN will donate 11 retired C-VAN vehicles that normally would have been decommissioned and sold at auction. Instead, they’ll contribute to the important work of the following recipients:
- Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church
- Hands of Favor
- Angels of God
- Vancouver Elite Outreach
- Educational Opportunities to Children and Families
- The Father’s House
Also partnering in the program is Cascadia Technical Academy, which has offered to provide maintenance of the vehicles through its Diesel Technology Program to any interested recipient.
The surplus van grant program, known as VanGo, was first announced in January. Applicants went through a competitive grant process, and recipients were notified in March.
C-TRAN is the regional public transportation provider for portions of Clark County. It offers Local bus service within its Clark County service area, Regional bus service to the nearest MAX light rail station, and Express commuter service to downtown Portland. It also provides Connector service within the city limits of Camas, La Center, and Ridgefield.
