Vancouver, WA: The C-TRAN Board of Directors this week approved the purchase of a former U.S. Forest Service building that will become C-TRAN’s Administration office in early 2019. The building, located at 10600 N.E. 51st Circle in Vancouver, was built in 1995 and occupied by the Gifford Pinchot National Forest headquarters until 2016.
The move will relocate much of C-TRAN’s administrative staff from its current location at 2425 N.E. 65th Avenue. Most of the Operations and Maintenance workers will remain at the existing site. But planned renovations in the coming years will improve and expand the facilities on 65th Avenue to meet current and future needs as part of C-TRAN’s Administration/Operations/Maintenance Facility Master Plan. That plan includes demolishing the current Administration building to make room.
C-TRAN’s existing facilities are over capacity and outdated. The Administration building was built in 1983. The modular Operations building was added in 2006. The Maintenance facility was expanded in 2016, but remains in need of further upgrades as our fleet grows and evolves.
“Our Operations department has been working in a modular unit that is nearing the end of its useful life,” said C-TRAN CEO Shawn M. Donaghy. “We continue to experience capacity issues for employees and equipment, and our Maintenance team needs to grow its facility to better serve our Operations department and keep pace with current and future fleet growth. This required us to explore some immediate changes.”
C-TRAN will purchase the former Forest Service building for $6,850,000, with additional funds set aside for building improvements. Among those will be the addition of a new C-TRAN board room to host future meetings.
During the transition, there will be no interruption to C-TRAN service or Customer Service offices. Combined with the planned facility improvements on 65th Avenue, the move is a great opportunity to meet C-TRAN’s growing needs and better serve Clark County far into the future.
C-TRAN is the regional public transportation provider for portions of Clark County. It offers Local bus service within its Clark County service area, Regional bus service to the nearest MAX light rail station, and Express commuter service to downtown Portland. It also provides Connector service within the city limits of Camas, La Center, and Ridgefield.
