Approved January 2010 Service Adjustments

After hearing from the public at several open houses and a public hearing, the C-TRAN Board of Directors approved, 7 to 1, a plan to reduce service on several underutilized bus trips within Clark County. These adjustments take affect on Sunday, January 10, 2010. To learn how this service reduction affects each route, click on the following link:

The plan, which consists of a 5% net reduction in C-TRAN’s annual service hours, is necessary in the wake of the prolonged economic recession and a projected $6 million budgetary shortfall caused primarily by declining sales tax revenues which account for approximately 60% of C-TRAN’s revenue. The projected shortfall is in addition to savings recently generated by C-TRAN’s receipt of federal economic stimulus funds used to off-set preventative maintenance costs. These service adjustments are expected to close approximately $518,000 of this budget gap, with the remaining $5.5 million to be bridged through non-service related spending reductions, operating efficiencies, and use of reserve funds.

The reductions focus on fourteen routes within Clark County that have the lowest ridership, including changes in routing, trip frequency, weekend service and elimination of early and late trips. No reductions are planned for C-TRAN Express service to downtown Portland.

Details of the final approved plan are now available by clicking the link above, or by requesting information through one of C-TRAN's Passenger Service offices. Schedule information will be available on our Web site by early December, followed by paper schedules in mid-December, 2009.
